Open position: Internship/work try-out at Maa-Tila project space
We are looking for a part-time intern for Maa-Tila project space starting in January or by agreement.
About Maa-Tila
Maa-Tila is a project space for discussion, encounters, and spatial experiments. We focus on presenting experimental, discursive, messy, critically engaged, and underrepresented practices. Maa-Tila is located in Pääskylänrinne, Sörnäinen, Helsinki. The project space is run by Art School Maa.
The tasks include, amongst other things:
• invigilating the gallery/project space and customer service when the gallery is open
• development and planning of the project space’s activities
• marketing and communications
• communication with artists
• assisting with exhibition installation
• getting to know the field of art education and organising events, networking in the field of contemporary arts
• assisting with events and other tasks at Art School Maa
Working time and duration of the internship
The internship is part-time. Working time is approximately 18 hours per week during the opening hours of Maa-Tila (Wed-Fri 2–6 pm, Sat-Sun 1–5 pm). Duration of the internship is 6 months (part-time; from January to June) or by agreement.
For whom is this internship?
This internship is best suited for students as part of their studies or as an unemployed job seeker with the right for a work try-out or pay subsidy. This internship does not require Finnish language skills. We wish for the intern to be able to work independently and to be interested in contemporary arts and art education.
Internship or work try-out?
The internship requires financial support by, for example, your (applied) university or the TE office. This means:
- If you are a student: you need to have a financial internship support from your (applied) university for at least 3 months.
- If you are a job seeker: you need to be registered at TE office and you need to be eligible for either a work try-out or pay subsidy by the TE office. Read more about work try-outs here. Read more about pay subsidies here.
- If these do not apply: you need to have another financial support.

Salary
For the internship option, the salary payment is at least minimum wage as defined by Kela, the Social Insurance Institution of Finland (for full time 1399 € / month in 2024). The salary is proportional with the working time, so with 18 hours per week the salary would be accordingly 699,50€/kk.
For the work try-out option, TE office pays unemployment benefits to the job seeker.
