17.1.2025: International Art Birthday celebrated by the Nomadic Academy of Experimental Arts

Welcome on Friday at 1 p.m. to celebrate the International Art Birthday celebrated by the Nomadic Academy of Experimental Arts since 2010 on January 17 every year, a celebration founded by the Fluxus artist Robert Filliou in 1963. 

We organize a small-scale event in cooperation with the students at 1pm in the afternoon. I also welcome other members of the Maa community to participate in the event. 

At the event, There will be the birth story of Art's birthday told, we will watch a moving image, we will serve coffee and a gluten-free and lactose-free cake designed by Anna Mansikkamäki, the official cake maker of the Nomadic Academy. We also give the "diploma" awarded annually to experimental art practitioners.

We started the tradition in 2022 and so far the Diploma has been awarded as follows

2022 
Poetry, asemic writing, enabling experimental art (publishing and editing)
(Poet, publisher Karri Kokko)

2023
Pioneering work of conceptual and public art, experimental works of moving image 
(Visual artist, film director Mox Mäkelä)

2024
Unknown art & artists
(several communities and artists, e.g. Là Bas, Juha van Ingen, Harakka ry, musician Henri Lindström)
